A pair of large Oxford oak picture frames in excellent condition.
‘Oxford picture-frame the sides of which cross each other and project some distance at the corners’ (Oxford English Dictionary).
The Oxford frame was popular for framing prints in the late nineteenth century.
These are large frames, measuring 30.5 x 40.5 inches at the projected corners , the inner aperture 20 x 30 inches.
The frames retain the original glass and backboard.
All frames may show defects, patination & sometimes repairs; all commensurate with their age.
